How this pair is put together

Muted hide tone

The dusty grey-brown nap shows natural texture across the rounded front. To clean off dried dirt from the playground, let the hide dry fully and brush the surface lightly with a stiff bristle brush.

Flexible heel band

A stretchy rear strap works with the metal pin buckle over the instep. This keeps the shoe anchored around the heel while letting children pull the pair on and off without help.

Contoured inner base

Underfoot, the natural cork footbed rests beneath a smooth lining. The material settles and compresses gradually under body heat, taking on the imprint of the foot through steady wear.

Patterned EVA bottom

The dark synthetic outsole features a shallow tread pattern for pavement and indoor floors. It remains light beneath the cork core while taking the daily scrape of outdoor play.

What we cut and last

A muted taupe hide gives this closed-toe pair a soft nap that yields to smaller feet as it breaks in. We shape the cork base with a cupped heel and a contoured arch, then secure the back with a flexible heel band alongside the front pin buckle.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Lasting the cork footbed for children

We build seven pairs in our catalogue on a child's last.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
