How this pair is put together

Dark grey suede

We chose genuine split suede dyed in a dark grey shade that hides daily dust. The nap stays soft under hand. Brush the surface with a dry bristle block to lift grit, and let wet spots dry naturally.

Instep strap hardware

A single strap crosses the vamp, secured by a solid metal pin buckle with an aged finish. Multiple punched holes let you tighten or loosen the hold, keeping the backless mule seated against your foot.

Cork base layer

The footbed is built from cork composite lined in matching suede. It yields gradually under the sole of your foot over weeks of wear, shaping a personal imprint around the arch and across the ball.

Underfoot traction pattern

Beneath the cork core sits a thickened EVA outsole finished with a textured tread. The material cushions pavement contact while the grooved pattern provides steady grip on smooth hallway floors and garden paths.

What we cut and last

A charcoal grey split suede upper gives this closed toe clog a matte, subdued finish. We lasted the backless pattern over our cork footbed, shaping a rounded toe box and a recessed heel cup. The antiqued metal buckle across the vamp adjusts the fit across your instep.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Caring for four uppers and cork

We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
