How this pair is put together

Brown suede shell

We cut the upper from thick brown suede with a soft brushed surface. It takes scuffs well, bends without cracking, and brushes clean with a stiff bristle brush after dry outdoor walks.

Suede lined platform

A suede lining sits directly against the foot above the cork layer. The footbed has a pronounced rim and a shaped arch profile that settles under your sole as you break it in.

Antiqued vamp prong

The single metal buckle across the bridge tightens or loosens the fit across the instep. It keeps the backless shoe seated on the footbed so the heel does not drift while walking.

Thickened treaded base

Underneath the cork core, a grooved synthetic sole adds ground contact. The tread pattern grips smooth flooring indoors and holds up across gravel, pavement, and garden paths outside.

What we cut and last

A rounded front gives toes room while the back stays open for quick entry. We build this clog on a firm cork base with a raised arch and deep heel recess. The brown suede upper has a nap that softens with wear and pairs with a metal prong buckle across the instep.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Caring for four uppers and cork

We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
