How this pair is put together

Taupe suede upper

We cut the upper from genuine suede with a soft nap and a neutral grey-brown tone. A stiff bristle brush removes dry dust and lifts the grain after outdoor use.

Moulded cork footbed

Our footbed is shaped from natural cork and latex with a deep heel cup and raised arch contour. It softens and takes the impression of your foot as you wear it.

Buckle across the vamp

A single antiqued metal pin buckle sits over the instep. You can tighten or loosen the strap across several punched holes to adjust how the backless last holds the foot.

Closed toe shape

The broad toe box gives the front of the foot room to rest flat while walking. Thick stitching anchors the upper cleanly along the rim of the cork midsole.

What we cut and last

Taupe suede gives this closed toe clog a muted grey cast that settles into daily wear. We build the upper over a moulded cork footbed lined in matching suede, then cinch it with an antiqued metal buckle across the vamp. It is backless, unlined around the toe box, and finished with a lightweight treaded outsole.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Caring for four uppers and cork

We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
