How this pair is put together

Black suede upper

We chose a thick split suede in solid black for the upper and footbed lining. The nap is dense and soft to the touch. A dry suede brush clears surface dust and lifts the pile when needed.

Shaped cork footbed

Our cork footbed is moulded with a deep heel cup and a raised contour along the arch. With steady wear, the material warms and settles around the specific shape of your sole.

Vamp buckle adjustment

The antiqued metal buckle across the instep adjusts through punched eyelets. It tightens or loosens the fit over your instep so the clog stays seated on your foot as you walk.

Gripped outsole tread

Under the cork, a lightweight synthetic outsole adds traction on smooth floors and dry pavement. The shallow tread pattern bends naturally with your stride without adding excess weight to the shoe.

What we cut and last

We cut this pair from matte black suede and lasted it over our shaped cork footbed. The rounded toe box gives your toes room to spread, while the backless cut makes stepping into them easy. A vintage-tone metal buckle adjusts across the vamp for a steady hold.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Caring for four uppers and cork

We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
