How this pair is put together

Wide mens footbed

The natural cork foundation is cut with extra room across the ball and toe grip. As you put miles on the pair, the footbed softens and settles to match the print of your foot.

Matte black uppers

We use smooth black strap material that holds its shape against the foot without rubbing. Wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth when road dust gathers, then let it dry out of direct sunlight.

Double pin closures

Each strap adjusts individually through a sturdy metal prong. You can tighten the lower band near the toes while leaving the upper band slack across a higher instep.

Lightweight walking base

Beneath the cork sits a durable synthetic outsole patterned for steady footing on pavement and boardwalks. It keeps the whole slide light while shielding the cork core from ground moisture.

What we cut and last

Matte black uppers give this open slide a clean, quiet profile. We shape the cork base on a broader mens last, setting raised arch ridges and a deep heel pocket underfoot. Two broad straps cross the top, each fitted with its own metal buckle to hold the instep secure.

Caring for this upper

  • Smooth leather: Wipe with a soft damp cloth, dry away from heat.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

The wider last and buckle adjustment

A shoe takes its internal volume and width directly from the solid form we build it over.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
