How this pair is put together

Oiled nubuck upper

We cut the two wide straps from brown nubuck with a matte, oiled pull-up finish. The surface scuffs naturally with wear. You can rub light marks out with a dry thumb or refresh the nap with a nubuck brush.

Shaped arch contour

The footbed is built from natural cork granules mixed with latex, shaped with a raised ridge beneath the medial arch. Over weeks of daily walking, the footbed softens slightly and takes on the footprint of your own foot.

Dual pin prongs

Each strap carries its own buckle with multiple punch holes across the band. You can slacken the front strap for a broader forefoot while keeping the instep strap pinned down to stop heel lift while walking.

Chambered heel basin

The back of the footbed drops into a cupped heel nest that keeps your foot centred over the cork core. Underneath, a lightweight foam outsole absorbs pavement contact and flexes cleanly through every stride.

What we cut and last

Brown nubuck straps cross the open toe on our broader mens last. We mould the cork footbed with a raised arch contour and a deep cup to hold the heel in place. Two buckles let you set the volume across the instep and the ball of the foot independently.

Caring for this upper

  • Oiled leather: Wipe clean, then work the oil back in when it dulls.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

The wider last and buckle adjustment

A shoe takes its internal volume and width directly from the solid form we build it over.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
