How this pair is put together

Distressed vegan upper

The synthetic suede upper has a matte mocha surface with subtle vintage distressing. It keeps its shape well around the toe box and wipes clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.

Red copper buckle

An antiqued copper-tone metal pin buckle secures the strap across the instep. Several punch holes allow you to loosen or tighten the grip across the midfoot so the backless mule stays seated.

Arch and heel contour

We build the footbed from natural cork with a raised arch contour and a rounded heel cradle. Over weeks of wear, the cork slowly moulds to the specific profile of your foot.

Reinforced perimeter stitching

Heavy contrast thread joins the upper to the lower assembly along the side wall. The stitching strengthens the flex zone across the ball of the foot where a backless shoe works hardest.

What we cut and last

Mocha vegan suede brings a soft, weathered look to this closed toe slip on clog. We pair the distressed brown upper with contrast stitching and a red copper-tone buckle across the vamp. The cork footbed inside softens and takes the shape of your stride over time.

Caring for this upper

  • Vegan: Wipe with a damp cloth, the surface shrugs off splashes.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Why a mule stays on the foot

A backless mule leaves the counter off entirely.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
