How this pair is put together

Pink genuine suede

The upper uses genuine suede dyed a light pink across the vamp. It softens naturally through regular wear, and dry dust brushes off easily with a soft bristle shoe brush.

Elasticated back strap

An elastic heel band holds the foot over the footbed while children move. Together with the metal prong buckle across the instep, it lets the shoe stay on during active play.

Arch and heel contours

The footbed is shaped from cork with a raised ridge beneath the arch and a deep pocket for the heel. Over weeks of wear, the cork gradually takes the imprint of the foot.

Traction base layer

Underneath the cork rests an outsole grooved with a shallow wave pattern. It keeps the profile lightweight and adds steady contact on indoor floors and dry pavement alike.

What we cut and last

Pink suede covers the rounded front of this children mule, dyed through with a soft, even finish. We set it on a moulded cork base shaped with a raised arch and a cupped heel. An elasticated back strap sits alongside the vamp buckle to keep smaller feet securely planted.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Lasting the cork footbed for children

We build seven pairs in our catalogue on a child's last.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
