How this pair is put together

Deep mocha suede

We select genuine suede dyed to an earthy mocha brown, brushed for a dense nap. A quick pass with a dry suede brush clears surface dust and restores the texture after a long day of wear.

Foam and cork foundation

The cork footbed is topped with a layer of responsive memory foam. It provides initial give under the ball of the foot while the cork beneath holds its cupped shape and settles around your footprint over time.

Instep metal pin

The lateral buckle adjusts the strap across the upper instep. Tighten it to seat your foot deeper into the backless clog, or loosen it slightly when wearing thicker wool socks.

Flexible EVA base

A lightweight EVA sole is bonded directly beneath the cork core. The light grooving flexes naturally as you step, protecting the cork from street grit while dampening hard contact.

What we cut and last

Mocha genuine suede wraps the round potato toe of this backless mule, finished with a metal pin buckle across the instep. Beneath the suede lining, a soft foam insert rests over structured cork to cushion each step. A lightweight EVA bottom keeps the entire build flexible on firm ground.

Caring for this upper

  • Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
  • Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape

Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.

Caring for four uppers and cork

We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.

Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue

Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Looking for a different foot?

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
