How this pair is put together
Basalt grey genuine suede
The upper is cut from sturdy suede dyed in a dark mineral grey. A suede brush clears dried mud, while an ordinary gum eraser lifts scuffs from the nap.
Metal roller pin hardware
A single metal buckle fastens across the instep. You can set the strap down a notch for bare feet or let it out to accommodate thicker wool socks.
Anatomical cork insole
The footbed is shaped with a deep heel cup and raised contour under the arch. The cork base yields slightly under weight and shapes itself to your sole as you break it in.
Thickened composite bottom sole
We bond the cork footbed to a durable, shock-absorbing bottom sole with a shallow grip pattern. It keeps the shoe grounded on smooth hardwood, flagstones, or gravel paths.

What we cut and last
Basalt grey genuine suede gives this closed-toe clog a cool, dark cast that sits comfortably between charcoal and black. We cut the vamp wide and mount a solid metal pin buckle across the instep so you can tighten or slacken the hold. Underfoot, our cork footbed takes the imprint of your stride over time.
Caring for this upper
- Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
- Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.
Others from this shelf
Brown suede shapes a rounded closed toe over our contoured cork footbed, buckled across the vamp for everyday wear.
We cut these closed toe clogs from light grey suede and mount them on our deep-cupped cork footbed.
Taupe suede wraps a closed toe on a cork and foam footbed, cinched with an antiqued buckle over the instep.

How the moulded cork footbed takes shape
Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.
Caring for four uppers and cork
We build our footwear on a single moulded cork footbed across four distinct upper materials.
Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue
Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.

Every pair on our shelf shares this footbed. Change the toe, the upper or the last and the rest stays the same.
