How this pair is put together
Oiled brown suede
We cut the upper straps from brown suede with a soft, fibrous nap. The material takes daily wear well and darkens slightly over time. Clear dust with a stiff suede brush and keep the leather dry.
Contoured cork footbed
Our footbed uses ground cork bonded under a suede lining. The platform curves upward at the arch, with a defined ridge below the toes and a cupped heel that seats the foot securely inside the rim.
Dual strap buckles
Two independent buckle straps let you alter the tension across the instep and the ball of the foot. You can notch each prong tighter or looser depending on the height of your instep.
Grooved outsole tread
Under the cork core, we bond a lightweight synthetic outsole patterned with shallow grip channels. It protects the raw cork edge from direct contact with hard pavement and stone floors.
What we cut and last
Two brown suede straps cross the foot, each secured with an adjustable metal buckle. We build this open slide on our classic cork footbed, shaping a deep heel cup and raised arch contour into the base. The nap of the brown suede softens with wear, matching the gradual break-in of the cork underneath.
Caring for this upper
- Suede: Brush dry with a bristle block, never wet the nap.
- Give the cork footbed a week of short wear so it takes the imprint of your heel.

Reading before you choose
Closed toe or open toe across the catalogue
Every shoe we build begins with the same moulded cork footbed, but the first choice at the bench is the front of the upper.
How the moulded cork footbed takes shape
Our workshop builds every shoe on one moulded cork footbed across the catalogue.
The wider last and buckle adjustment
A shoe takes its internal volume and width directly from the solid form we build it over.
